What is Drag Story Time?
«Drag Story Time» is a playful program for children, ages 3 – 8, created by activist/educator Brandy Butler in 2019.
The event centres creating an experience that spans across generations, personal identities, and migrational backgrounds and bring together all of these worlds in a creative, playful, 90-minute experience, facilitated by the joy of reading – and of course Drag Performers!
The program aims to capture the imagination of young children and play off the gender fluidity of childhood. It gives kids glamorous, positive, and unabashedly queer role models, while also lightheartedly addressing relevant social topics such as diversity, self-identity, gender and much more.
In the world of «Drag Story Time», children are encouraged to imagine a world where people can present as they wish, where dress up is real and the possibilities are endless.
